Karen DeBerry and her husband, Blake, are the owners and winemakers at Torr Na Lochs Vineyard & Winery in Burnet, TX. Karen holds a BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University. She worked as a CPA and CFO for many years before running her own landscaping company until 2001, when Blake’s job took the family overseas for the next ten years. It was while on a wine tour in the Margaret River area of Western Australia in 2011, that the idea for planting a vineyard and building a winery on the DeBerry’s 210 acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country was born. The winery sits high above the Colorado River Valley overlooking Inks and Buchanan lakes. Torr Na Lochs is a Gaelic phrase that loosely translates to “hill over lakes” and pays homage to the time the family spent living in Aberdeen, Scotland. All of Torr Na Lochs wines are made from 100% Texas grown grapes and feature primarily Italian, Spanish, and Rhone varietals.
