Traveling the world with the USA’s Track & Field team ignited Chef Dawn Burrell’s deep love for the language of food. The 2000 Olympian eventually traded in her track spikes for a full-time culinary career — cutting her teeth with everyone from Chef Tom Aikens in London to Houston’s Monica Pope to award-winning Texas restaurants Uchi and Uchiko — before snagging a James Beard Semifinalist Nomination for “Best Chef: Texas” in 2020 while at the helm of modern Southern eatery Kulture. This Summer, the Bravo Top Chef Season 18 finalist teams up with 2022 James Beard Award Finalist — Chef Chris Williams — to introduce Late August, a concept that brings life to Burrell’s signature global comfort style, while exploring the intersections of African and Asian flavors.
