Vladimir Smirnov
Owner/Executive Chef, Chef Smirnov Catering

Vladimir Smirnov has shown a passion for cooking from his early days as a youth in Moscow. In 1987, after finishing cooking school, he began his professional cooking career serving the Government of Moscow in a Kremlin kitchen.

Chef Smirnov and his wife, Jewish refugees from the Soviet state, moved to Houston in 1994. Even before gaining proficiency in English, his cooking skills landed him a cooking position with Rice Epicurean Market. His team catered countless events, both large and small, public and private over the next 11 years.  Chef Smirnov continued to hone his skill, gaining a loyal clientele and confidence in his new home.

In 2007, Chef Smirnov decided to launch his own catering service – Chef Smirnov Catering. Since that time, he has continually provided exceptional service to his clients. He has received numerous referrals and testimonials from his satisfied customers. From the simple to the most elegant event, you can trust him to meet your demands for excellence in service, presentation, and quality.

Chef Smirnov, a Certified Executive Chef, is a member of the American Culinary Federation (ACF), and Texas Chef Association (TCA).  He is an active supporter of The Holocaust Museum, Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services, and Texas Children’s Hospital.

In January 2006 at the Ben E. Keith Company Food Show in Conroe, Chef Smirnov was awarded the silver medal in the Division I carving competition.
At the PFG Food Show Salon in April 2006, Chef Smirnov won the silver medal for Fruit Carving. In 2007, he received the gold medal for his carving at the Glazier Food Service Show.

Chef Smirnov was the only American chef to win a medal in any category at the 2006 International Virtual Salon Culinary in Australia where entries from around the world were submitted. An international panel of judges awarded points to each entry and certain point levels were required for each medal level. Chef Smirnov's bronze medal carving entry was the highest and only medal winner in the carving division.
