Catherine deBlieux
South Region Manager, Gaucho Imports
Catherine deBlieux is a Cougar graduate of University of Houston class of 1999 with a BA in Theater Arts. As a child, her dream was to be active in the arts participating in plays and dance, but found out after college how behind the scenes in professional theater really was and decided that wine was by far a better act and dance.
One day, she was drinking wine with her sister Cristina, also in the wine business, and they were discussing her future employment options when her comment of "geeze, this Bordeaux taste like bell peppers and cherries" prompted Cristina to reply with "hey, you should be in the wine business" and thus that is how her 10 year career (so far) in the wholesale wine business began.
Currently, Catherine is working with Gaucho Imports, a company that specializes in importing Argentine wines, although her true passion is for German and Austrian with Italian and French wines falling directly after in preferences. Old world wines, specifically whites and roses are the jewels she typically seeks.
However, her most beloved position is at home. She loves to cook for her family, play with her three and a half year old and fix bobos. Being a mother and wife is by far her most important occupation and life rewarding experience. Cheers to that!
