Winemaker, Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard
Billy S. Cox, Jr., owner and winemaker at Retreat Hill Winery, is a true renaissance man. Dad, engineer, former television host, amateur chef and simple farmer, Mr. Cox has dreamed of owning a vineyard and winery since 1995.
In 2007, his dream started becoming a reality with the purchase of 12 acres of land in southern Grimes County. In March 2009, Retreat Hill Vineyard was planted and in August 2009, Retreat Hill Winery was open for business. Mr. Cox is the winery director of the Texas Wine & Grape Growers Association (TWGGA), Region 3, and is the TBWT representative on the Agri-Tourism committee for TWGGA.
He also serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail (TBWT). Mr. Cox's vision for Retreat Hill Winery is to create elegant wines in a relaxed country setting in the same spirit of the pioneers who founded Texas.
