Vino, Vittles and Fiddles or somthun' like that...
This year's H-E-B Wine Walk might be more appropriately called a wine "promenade" as the event will take on an "Extreme Southern" theme for 2011. Red and white table cloths, bales of hay and maybe even your Aunt Thelma's bad wig will be making an appearance on Market Street. This year is all about fun as the event takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to a celebration of our magnificent Southern culture.
Come dressed in your coolest Southern attire and shop, sip and stroll as you explore the magic of Market Street during this casual and most entertaining event. During the H-E-B Wine Walk, 34-acre Market Street transforms into a festival-like atmosphere with guests enjoying wines from around the world, food sampling and demonstrations and an offering of Chef selections. There will of course be live music providing an upbeat background for two-stepping and tasting the more than 100 selections of wine from industry representatives. Be forewarned, if the roaming "Quick-fix Southern Make-over Team" deems that your attire is not "Southern extreme," they may intervene and provide you with hair teasing, a blackened tooth or other surprises!
Market Street, The Woodlands Main-Street-styled shopping and entertainment center, offers high-end retailers, public art projects and a lovely Central Park. Guests can enjoy the warm summer breezes outside, then step into the cool-as-a-cucumber air conditioning of a fine store for incredible finds. This year there will be a special appearances by some very special down home folks including:
- Rebecca Lang, Wizard Gourmet 2011, Southern Living TV and author of "Quick Fix Southern." Whether it's fried green tomatoes or pralines, Rebecca can pull off any kind of vittles with relaxed Southern charm.
- Guy Stout, Master Sommelier, and the only one of his kind in Texas, will be sharing his wealth of knowledge.
- Daniel Nemec, Corporate Executive Chef of Kirby's Prime Steakhouse, will be serving up Kirby's cuisine.
Come meet some of the most fascinating personalities and unique items in the Author and Artist Alley. Here visiting talents will share their latest works with guests. And stay tuned for more exciting folks who'll be "coming around the corner" to join us at Market Street.
John Cooper Silent Auction
Once again this year participants can take part in the John Cooper School Silent Auction and tasting . Proceeds will benefit the Signatures Author Series of the John Cooper School which proudly provides literacy education throughout Montgomery Country.
The John Cooper School's Signatures Author Series, a beneficiary of Wine Week for the fourth consecutive year, is pleased to announce that international best-selling novelist Candace Bushnell is the keynote speaker for the 7th Annual Signatures Author Series luncheon on Friday, November 11. Bushnell is the critically acclaimed author whose first book, Sex and the City, was the basis for the HBO hit series and subsequent blockbuster movies.

From Sex and the City, through six successive novels, Bushnell has revealed a gift for tapping into the mood and spirit of any New York minute.
