Marcello has an extensive and tenured career in the wine industry. Born in Italy, wine has been in his blood from birth. Raised on the East Coast of the US, his early industry experience included marketing and administrative positions with Cordorniu and Joseph Victori Wine Imports, and in the position of East Coast Sales Manager with William Grant & Sons.

Italian wines are his expertise and passion, and he has promoted the wines of Italy with the Istituto Commercio Estero (Italian Trade Commission) since 1970. In addition he has worked with the Comité Interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne (Champagne Trade Commission) to promote Champagne in the US. A natural at discovering the jewels of Italy , he was responsible for bringing the incredible wines of Bruno Giacosa to the US. While not easily convinced, Giacosa allowed him to import 200 cases in the early 70's.

Giacosa's 1971 Barolo is considered to be one of the best Barolos ever made, and he is regarded as one of the top three producers of Barolo in the world. Now the US has enjoyed 37 years of his vintages, of which are still garnering top scores, including his 2000 vintage, which scored 100 points in Wine Spectator.

Marcello served as a Chapter Chairman of the American Wine Society from 1970-75 Prior to joining TGIC, Sarnacchiaro owned and operated Monte Bianco imports, and Italian wine import company based in San Francisco. The Quarterly Review of Wines has named "one of the abler wine people in the industry. He has a way with wines. He knows them, has a feel for them."

A genuine professional with a love for wine, he truly enjoys educating and sharing his knowledge with others and promoting it as part of "La Dolce Vita". As he says, "Wine's alive, it's a food, it's like all the beautiful things I know".
